Help & frequently asked questions

A few answers to help you get back to practice.

How does Hindi Krutidev practice work?

Choose Hindi in the menu. Use an English (US) keyboard input source and type the displayed physical key sequence. The site shows readable Unicode Hindi while checking Krutidev 010 keys. No legacy font is required. Some font-specific Alt-code glyphs are outside this beginner course.

How is Hindi speed measured?

Hindi Key WPM counts correct physical keystrokes divided by five per minute. It is not a count of Hindi words. Hindi lesson completions are tracked separately from English.

What can I do every day?

Visit Daily practice for a new English passage, a weekly activity view, your minutes goal, and earned milestones. Optional English typing games also contribute to your daily practice time. All these records stay in your browser.

How do I start?

Select Start typing to open your workspace, then start the first lesson or search the full lesson library. A physical QWERTY keyboard is recommended for touch typing.

Do I need an account or a payment?

No. The lessons, speed tests, and practice tools are free to use and do not require registration.

When do capital letters begin?

The course introduces lowercase letters first. Capital letters begin in the Shift Key chapter at lesson 91.

How do I earn stars?

Complete the lesson with at least 85% accuracy for one star, 93% for two stars, or 98% for three. Every chapter is available, whether or not you have earned a star.

What counts as a typing mistake?

A character that does not match the passage at the current position counts as a mistake. Backspace lets you correct the text, but the original attempt remains part of your accuracy score.

Where is my progress saved?

Your completed sessions, name, preferences, and custom practice text are stored in this browser on this device. A new browser, a different domain, private browsing, or clearing site data can make the previous progress unavailable.

How do I move my progress?

Use Export progress in Settings, keep the JSON backup file, and use Import progress in the other browser. Restoring a backup replaces the progress currently stored there after confirmation. Backups from the earlier version are supported.

Why is there no typing sound?

Choose a sound other than Mute, raise the practice volume, and check your device volume. Browsers start audio only after a click or keystroke. Use Preview sound in Settings to try it.

Can I change the colors in dark mode?

Yes. Choose light or dark appearance and select a palette or a custom accent in Settings. Your selected color applies in either mode and stays saved on this device.

Can I practice my own words?

Yes. In Free practice, enter 10–5,000 characters using English letters, numbers, and standard keyboard symbols. Your custom text stays in local browser storage.

Does the timer include breaks?

No. In lessons and tests, the clock starts with your first character. Game timers start when you choose Let’s play. Use Pause to take a break. Switching away from a running exercise pauses it automatically.

Will an unfinished lesson be saved?

Only completed sessions are added to your history. Leaving or restarting an unfinished attempt does not save that attempt.

Can I use a phone?

The pages adapt to smaller screens, and single-character mobile input is supported. For learning finger placement, use a physical keyboard. Predictive text and multi-character input are not counted as individual keystrokes.

Essential storage keeps your practice progress and preferences on this device.
