The notebook had a plain cover and a generous first page. Kiran wrote the date in the corner and paused for a moment. There was no perfect opening sentence, so he chose an honest one. The next sentence arrived more easily than the first. Soon, the page held an idea that had only existed in his mind. Beginning had turned out to be the most useful part of the process. A note on the page said, "Keep going." Careful practice had turned a difficult moment into a familiar one.
